As a matter of fact, one of the main characters in The Call of Duty happens to be a woman married to another woman. Their marriage is a very loving and devoted one and is as accepted in that future society as any other marriage.

Hey Glenn, I was Just wondering as a Gay Sci-Fi Fan boy is there any LGBT characters in the Solfleet Saga. Some Incentive for me to pick up the revised edition when you release it?

That goes both ways, Glenn. This time of year especially my thoughts turn to our ''silent partner'' who I wish you could have known. Without his sense of humor, uncommon creativity and love of Star Trek, this could never have happened. In fact, the very title ''Soldiers of Pawns'' was his idea.

Now, these many years later, I am sure he'd be quite surprised and proud what you and I have done. I continue to be surprised at how this has developed.

''Soldiers of Pawns'' began as a collaboration and rightfully will come to fruition as such.

This collaboration has definitely been an interesting one for sure. So much new and wonderful material has come out of the partnership.

One thing I've been doing that makes for a little extra work on my side is that when I prepare to add brand new material, I first write it into the screenplay to "see" it in my "native language"--to see how the dialogue and action plays out. Then I use that to "port" it back to the ongoing novel--which among other things drives me crazy with past/present tense--but it's worth the extra effort.

There were several scenes where I did this in particular (see? I referred to chapters as "scenes"--haha), including a classroom at Gettysburg where George Kirk teaches literature; a rather exciting horseback ride with young James Kirk and his namesake grandfather, Tiberius--and a brand new opening in Iowa that explains why the family moved to Gettysburg.

In fact, Tiberius ("Ty") Kirk himself was a new addition to the story. I based him, like many of my characters over the years, on a real person named Joe, a wonderfully irascible sort who was a Marine in WWII, fought in Korea, and performed a batch of what we now call "black ops." He's fun to write, and was a vital addition to elaborate on a family tragedy. I've especially enjoyed immortalizing some of his favorite words of wisdom into Ty's dialogue.

One last "scene" that comes to mind that I particularly enjoyed is something that grew out of my love for WWII era movies. It was basically a classic romantic "good-bye" scene at a railroad station moved forward two-hundred years.

Anyway, back to writing...

Glenn,

I have never had any faith in the BBB. Over the years I have seen time and again where the BBB has failed in their purpose. Heck, these days you mention the BBB and people laugh, it has become just such a joke. I am sorry you are getting screwed with, and I hope you have a good lawyer lined up to take that publisher down!

Oh btw...BOOK II *wink*

Perhaps the title simply should be Battlestar Galactica: The Cylon War. Looking forward to seeing that and maybe even more of the 12 colonies.
